Nothing

I don't have much to say. This week has been busy prepping for the weekend in Omaha for Julia Grace's baptism. DH is just working waiting for his 1st internship to start Tuesday.
We've been having warmer days...

That's about it.

Picture Game

Can you spot the 9 differences?? It may be hard to see some in the dark corners (hint).

See comments for answers.

May what???

I wouldn't call it hail or snow flakes; more like snow balls falling from the sky....

It's Official!!

We got out letter at home on Friday!! I also got an email for the Director of CSSM on Friday afternoon (after I shut down my computer) congratulating us and confirming all our information has been distributed.
Now it's in God's hands...

Still no official word from CSSM...we're not sure if our profiles have been sent to all the offices or not. I think I may need to make a call. There has been some activity on their site since our letter has been posted. Two letters have been taken off and another has been added. It's nice to see activity - there's hope! I'm forcing myself to not keep looking! I'm going to limit myself to once a week.

As a celebratory activity with help from Hillary, I (we, Mike was there in spirit) officially registered! It was a little weird - primarily 'cause I kept thinking of what people were thinking of this visibly non-pregnant women registering.

Have a great weekend!!

Jr.'s room improvements

This is my first attempt at uploading a video clip - cock your head to the left before viewing - not responsible for any injury caused.

I used my digital camera and didn't realized holding the camera vertical would freeze it that way.

Pictures below of the room too! I think it's pretty functional now and really ready. We have one wall that is majorly bare...maybe we'll actually put something baby on it!

Home Improvements

My attempt at child proofing our china/crystal from toddlers.....

Out of sight out of mind right?
Kind of a Shabby Chic style...or not
Before

After...notice anything?

Curly Hair

Recently I've learned that we are a society of curly haired people who have spent our lives straitening hair. So many people I know who have straight hair actually have curly hair...so interesting.

I guess I'm just to lazy to straighten.

Parenting

I've successfully completed 3 parenting books that I really enjoyed...I did skip over the sections pertaining to breast feeding and was extra attentive to the chapters that focused on adoption parenting. I've also done a lot of reading of adoption periodicals in addition to books recommended and required by CSSM that are purely adoption focused.

The post is two fold...

Part one: Do all parenting books say, and/or, do you parents out there believe a new infant should only be held, fed, soothed, etc. by the parents the first week? Also, it says the first three weeks there should be very little commotion around the infant. Nearly every piece of literature I've read that pertains to bonding with an adopted infants states this. My question being; is this practice specific to adopted infants? Or in other words have others read that? To me it seems a good practice for all who want to bond with their infant. Like I said most of my reading is geared to the adopted infant so I'm just wondering...

Part two: Since that is what we've read and will do everything possible to enhance our bond please don't get offended if we disappear for a couple of weeks after the arrival. I know most new parents do anyway because of the exhaustion but we will probably be a little more hyper sensitive to our bonding - that being said...3 weeks!! That's a long time...

Just saying.
